In collaboration with SuperMap Software Co. Ltd., China, the Faculty of Geomatics is organizing a virtual workshop for the 2nd time to the GIS user community in Sri Lankan University system, for the GEOWEEK2022.
Objective
The main objective of the workshop is to improve students' level of GIS knowledge by giving hands-on experience through a new GIS platform - SuperMap, to execute comprehensive spatial analysis, both in 2D and 3D, enabling them to address future demands and global challenges more effectively.
Background
The advancement of knowledge and technology is still incapable to address global challenges, such as pandemics and climate changes. We, as the nations’ leader in teaching, research and development in geo-spatial science, believe GIS will assist to understand these issues more effectively.
Very soon, you will enter the society as a qualified graduate-/postgraduate-holder, and also as an energetic young practitioner in Geomatics or in a related discipline, so that it is worthwhile for you to be thorough in this technology.

1. The Local GIS competition organized by the Faculty of Geomatics together with the SuperMap Software Co. Ltd, China
2. Upon submission to the local competition, you are automatically entitled for the International GIS contest organized by the SuperMap Software Co. Ltd, China
Rules
• For all practical sessions and for the competition, the SuperMap platform should be used.
• Results can be submitted as a group or individually.

Workshop will be free, and upon the successful completion of the workshop, you will be awarded an e-certificate of participation. For those who require a printed certificate, a LKR 400.00 operational charge should be paid. For payment options, contact geoweek@geo.sab.ac.lk
All registered participants will be given access to the SuperMap GIS software to obtain the hands-on experience, and to develop creative outcomes for the GIS competitions.
